ok my arowana has gotten alot better and isn't as skidish...he eats well...and looks beautiful..even with the african cichlids..except..about 2 weeks ago i forgot to put a weight on the glass hood...i tuned off the lights andwent to bed...i heard two splashes and then i heard him flopping on the floor. he was returned safely...well since then everytime i tun off the lights he start trying to jump...this is bad b/c its keeping me up and its tearing up his nose from when he hits the glass....what can i doo to make hi stop...b4 he gets an infection..and so i can sleep easier(literally):P.. and why at night????

I haven't yet figured out why this happens with arowanas, but if they are left in a totally darkened room they jump. If you will leave some kind of light on in the room this will stop him from jumping. I've put a small 10 gallon incandescent light on top of my aquariums with larger fish. Instead of putting 2 bulbs in it I only put 1 - 15 watt bulb in them for a dim light and it has seemed to work well for all my jumpers (arowanas, balas and tinfoils). Good Luck.

its cool...ill try to train it but it ill take time...any way..have you got yours to eat crickets yet...when you do feed the crickets carrots so they transfer the nuitrients to the arowana...also remeber to keep a weight on the hood just in case yours decides to take a plunge..hehe
