i may be able to get a 50g what kind of filtration should i need?i know a bio wheel but what brand? is an emperor better than a penguin?? do i need a power head? IP: Logged |

Depending on the type of fish, you can have a bio wheel penguin with 330 gallons per hour, or the more powerful emperor with 400 gallons per hour(same company). Another good addition to this would be an under the tank cannister filter, maybe a fluval or something similar. The power heads are only necessary if you choose to use undergravel filtration, which is less effective than the other types of filters mentioned above! I have a 55 gallon tank with a bio wheel 330 that works just fine with 20 percent water changes every two weeks. More filtration never hurts, but wont take the place of gravel siphoning and water changes. IP: Logged |
