My bus driver has a fully grown red pacu in a 55 gallon tank. hes 24" plus! and is as happy as can be. 1 inch per gallon or maybe 2 inches per gallon, still plenty of room! some say 500 gallons plus those fish certainly don't get 500+ inches! that's BULL! am I right or wrong? (the fish can turn too) IP: Logged |

Are u sure it is 24 inches??? Cause if it is I'm not sure how it can survive in a 55g ![]() [This message has been edited by grumble111 (edited 03-18-2003).] IP: Logged |

A full sized pacu with good filtration can survive in a 55g IP: Logged |

I'm really not for sure that the pacu is full grown. I've seen alot of message say that they have a full grown pacu. In a home aquarium, yes that might be the growth protential of that pacu. In 200g+ I have had a pacu reach 30in and alittle more. I had to donate him to a local public aquarium for a bigger home and so others could seem and appreciate his beauty. IP: Logged |

How is it happy? It cant even turn around!! A 55 gal is 13 inches wide and 19 inches high, someone is lieing because pacus are like a circle and if its 24 inches big than the whole body of the fish is not in the tank. you are definetly wrong! IP: Logged |
