I have a 55 gallon aquarium that has been set up for about 2 months. I've tested and had the water tested and everything checks out okay...just minimal ammonia but this aquarium is smelling up my living room!! It stinks like nothing I've ever smelled before. There isn't anything dead in it, I've replaced the filters, done several water changes to *try* to eliminate this smell. Nothing is working and no one seems to know the problem. BTW, there isn't any algae....I do have plants but they all seem to be thriving and doing well and the fish seem to be fine. This isn't a tank that is neglected! Any suggestions? Anyone else had this problem? IP: Logged |

Try some filter carbon. I use the bio wheel 330 and it has 2 baskets for filter carbon. This removes odors. Just rinse the carbon before use. IP: Logged |
