I'm new here...great board! I'm hoping someone can help me determine if this fish is pregnant or not. My tank has been established for well over 2 1/2 years. Guess I should start from when I did my last major tank breakdown and cleaning. I cleaned my tank (55 gal) the first week of January..completely broke it down...moved it...and set it back up in a different location (new furniture required the space the tank was in). Since doing this..I lost a few fish...I had two fancy tailed barbs, 2 bala sharks of a good size...3 red tailed sharks...some neons...algae eaters and 2 fish that I'm unsure of...they have a tail that looks zebra striped...and a red face..the size of neons. Anyhow....I lost 1 of my fancy barbs...soon after the tank cleaning. I then lost a bala shark because he got himself lodged up inside of a new cave I put in . By the time I got him out...he was in bad shape. So..in the mean time...my bala shark and the barb seemed to be buddies..hung out together...swam together..followed each other around. I then lost my last bala shark....ever since I did the tank cleaning...I scared the crap out of him anytime I went near the tank...he would smash into the glass...smash the lid on top....I think he killed himself by running into the glass at full force. So..last week.....I noticed my fancy barb is getting MAJOR fat....big wide belly...looks pregnant to me. I think the fancy and the shark mated. My husband says that it's not possible...that 2 different species of fish never mate. I think anythings possible, they did seem like buddies...was hoping someone with more knowledge could help me out here? Am I going to have baby orange sharks? lol Sorry this is long...thanks in advance!
