What is the penalty for having pirhana's in a state where they are illigal, Alabama. I don't meen raising fish and selling them like one article I read. I just mean having a personal tank with at most 4 Pirhana's?

It's been years since I checked but the last I knew of it could be up to $200 per fish. You may want to follow fishman2's suggestion for more current info.

Just read about getting fined in the States.

It must be because they can breed if they are let out in the wild.

Over here [London] its TOO Bloody cold for Piranhas to live outside their tanks.

I was turned in last year by a guy who got mad because I wouldn't sell him two of my five red bellies. With court cost $6900 and the fish were destroyed.
