i had a pearl guorami that always swam along the side of the tank and whenever another fish was in its way it would chase it off. It seemed to be quite territorial and it then infected my tank with ick. It then died and killed 2 other fish along with it. They are also i hard fish to take care of. Im not a big fan of that fish anymore and i dont think i'll be getting another one.

A lot of gouramis will pick on other fish, but if they have another of their own kind (or better yet a female ; )
they will mostly pick on the other one, instead of other species of fish. So maybe get a friend for your pearl.
I love my pearl gouramis and find them very very easy to care for.
