What is the meanest, baddest, most agressive phiranha? I have heard that red bellies are the most agressive BUT some people say the blacks are much much more agressive followed by golds then red bellies. Whos telling the truth? I have also heard that black and gold phiranhas do NOT live in schools and attach each other IP: Logged |

All piranha will attack each other. Blacks are by far the meanest, most aggressive though. I don't recomend anything smaller than a 100 gallon tank for just a couple of them since they also are the biggest. I mean it, don't even try to rearange anything in a black tank without a spotter. There are different species of black piranha correct? I heard about the Serrasalmus Elongatus, or Serrasalmus Niger, etc.? I read somewhere there is a piranha even MORE aggressive than the black piranhas. They are redish and look a little like a RB. They are also the biggest ones, they can grow up to 2 feet long. Anybody heard or know about that? I will try to find the article IP: Logged |

The only real meanest piranha is the one flopping around outside the aquarium. As far as the of the stuff your writing about, poodles that are hungry can be just as aggressive. This question is asked a million times and you get a million different answers. Just be happy you can keep piranhas. Soon or later they might get banned from anyone having them. IP: Logged |

The s. ni*** is a black piranha - hence the ni*** part. My question is what is the difference in the s. ni*** and the s. rhombus? [This message has been edited by Auspetian (edited 01-03-2003).] IP: Logged |

S. niger is the same as S. rhombeus. There is no actual S. niger. The name is based on 2 types of piranha that was mixed up and described by Schomburgk when he was exploring the Rio Negro. You can email me and I can give you a link with the information of all the piranha species and their proper classification. toast_4u@hotmail.com IP: Logged |

Just a question, have anyone of you visited a web site specializing on piranhas? The stuff I'm reading here seems out of a science fiction book. Visit the Oregon Piranha web site (use google search) and learn some facts on your fish that you are posting some funny info on. Just some info for you all. IP: Logged |
