just wondering what i can feed my piranhas. i've just bought 2 2" piranhas and I just feed them goldfish. my question is, i want to feed them some kind of fish food (pellets or flakes) that I an buy at the fish store because I don't want to keep going back to the pet store every other day or so.

Actually, you don't have to make any more trips to the pet store than you usually would. Look no further than your grocer's freezer! You can feed your fish chunks of FATLESS beef heart and strips of fish meat. They may not accept either at first because it's dead. Try tying a string to one end of the meat and jiggling it in front of their faces. That will likely entice them to eat it. Well, good luck.

Piranhas are opportunistic feeders. Flake food is accepted greedily. Piranhas also go through a period of fasting for a few days. They are not the eating machines made out by Hollywood so don't panic if they are a bit picky on what they eat. They are probably not hungry. Beefheart IS a good food and like advised remove fat from it before feeding. Just thin slivers will do and no more than they can eat in a couple of minutes.

I am new to phiranhas too, just got mine less than a week. I went out and bought all sorts of stuff for them.

I got bloodworms, dried baby shrimp, goldfish, etc. so far they like all 3 of them. So thats probably best. I have heard that you can feed them raw meat, live mice, etc.
