i just got two 5 inch black piranha's today.. theyre freakin great.... so so aggressive.. i see that one of them is more dominant than the other one.. im kinda worried.. im trying to get them to eat krill now... is there another method that i can use to get them to eat krill besides starving them?... if i starve them they'll eat each other... another thing is that my arowana is showing signs of stress but i dont know what from =P....... hes in the tank with a small snakehead that hides all day... maybe just the snakeheads presence is stressing him out?... not sure.. can someone help me with the piranha's and the arow?.. thanks guys =).... ack.. sorry with the questions.. would krill or hikari tropical sticks be best for the arowana?... there is a picture of the arowana on the bag of the hikari tropical.. but there is also more crude protein in the hikari krill..... thanks IP: Logged |

You should be worried. Black piranhas AKA S. rhombeus should NEVER be mixed together. They extremely territorial and are feed on fins of other fish. Smaller fish they just eat. Putting in another competing predator such as your snakehead and aruana is not a good idea either. Sooner or later one will be either be eaten or badly mauled. IP: Logged |

NP :-) Still risky keeping those rhombs together though, at least think about putting a divider between them.

You didn't specify if you were using live or dead krill. If you are using dead (a.k.a.frozen or freeze dried)try tying a string to one end of a single kril and jiggling it in front of them. This will make it look alive and be more enticing to your fish. You can also feed them strips of dead fish and fatless beef heart using this same technique. Good luck! IP: Logged |
