I just recently bought some red belly pirahnas. I have had them now for 4 days. So far so great, well I came home from work tonight and I have noticed it a little they like to gather in the upper right back side of my tank right by the heater. I was wondering if this ment anything in perticular or not. PH, NH, and NO are all good where they need to be. Low amonia low nitrogen slighty acidic water at 6.5 Water temp. is 81deg. They have been eating brine shrimp and I have a fancy guppy in there with them in case they get hungry when i am at work so they dont turn on each other. SO if anyone can think of something that is wrong with them or a sugestion please post a message or email me at bcollins111900@yahoo.com. The oxygen level is good also. Any suggestions? By the way the prihanas are about an 1 1/2 inches long...? IP: Logged |

I have noticed that pacus and pirahna always start out very jumpy and shy at first. This tends to go away after a few months when they go into their normal agressive state. I find that frozen bloodworms can induce an agressiveness in almost any tropical fish! Just throw in a frozen block and watch them tear it apart, I'll bet that guppy will start hiding after that! I've seen Pirahna live in sewer water (well practically) at my friends house, so it's not the water quality. Try feeding them with the house lights off so they can't see you! If you buy some long plants they'll feel safer and wont try hiding in back of the heater. Hope I helped and good luck! IP: Logged |
