I suggest not getting your cousin a puppy. It's important for the future owner decide where to get his or her puppy. Also choosing the puppy based on how it looks, personality, and etc. More info here.

Please save a life and dont get her a dog for chrismas. After Xmas most dogs are nearly forgotten.
If you find a breeder who will actually sell you a dog at Xmas intended for Xmas then there is a 99% chance that there is something wrong with there practice and that they are not a breeder that you would want to buy a dog from at ANY TIME of the year.

I think whether or not a dog is forgotten after christmas depends on who they were given to. My friend got her dog at Christmas, and of course there was more excitement about it then than now, but they love her still!

Personally I think people should back off getting a puppy for any holiday reason, birthday ,Christmas ....etc. Too much to do ,going from house to house ,family gatherings ,shopping ...puppies need to be a family member not a wrapped toy and I think a planned puppy has a much better chance of survival than one bought for Santa to drop down a chimney .I am a breeder and do not let mine go at this time for 'Christmas Puppy " But have you noticed that there are commercial after commercial that has puppies as part of Christmas presents ,I saw three different ones the other night in a space of 3 hrs .I think this is where kids get the idea that puppies are 'gifts from Santa ' We should write to the people that do the commercials and have them take that off, like they may listen ! What do you guys think ?
