Hello All,

Does anyone have any input on fruit as snacks or treats? I have recently started to give my Abbey pieces of apple, 1-2 about the size of a finger nail.

Any info, on if this is good, bad, or if it should be increaesed would be great.

Thanks!
Cindy-Lou

Hi,

My understanding is that dogs will eat fruit in the wild. There is a frozen raw species appropriate diet made by Prairie that has, besides raw meat and ground bone, and organs, various fruits such as persimmon.

I fed our puppies a little apple today and they all seemed fine but one little toy poodle threw up pieces of apple with what looked like a little lunch.

??

Don't know what that means...

Good luck

I know that in the kibble my dogs eat it has some apple. I think in small amounts its ok. Too much may give the runs or throwing up. Just last week my son gave my poodle about 5 small pieces and she thru up late or early in the morning. She had not done that in a while. Bananas she loves too. Just little bits will be fine so you don't feel guilty eating in front of her. They are healthy.
Scrappy: I want to see your poodle, Please.

Hi,

I'd be happy to post a picture of Lil' Poo, as I call her, but I can't figure out how to do it...

I am aware that people don't post their emails. If you like you can create a fictitious email with bigfoot.com, or netzero.com, or someone, and I will email you a photo. Unless someone can let me in on the secret for uploading photos...

Hello All,

Puttin, my Abbey's kibble has apples, bananas and sweet potatie in it as well, so I guess in moderation it is fine. Thanks!

Nern, if you look through the posts you will see on posting a pic by bellasmommy, this will tell you exactly how.

Cindylou
think of it this way:
Do you want your dog eating generic no-name brand stale dog treats that you dont even know what it them?
or a nice helathy piece or fruit?
Thats why there a WHOLE raw diet (BARF-Bones and raw food) for dogs and cats.
