Hi, I am interested in getting a Maltese X Shih Tzu crossbreed puppy. Everything I have read about this "breed" says how wonderful they are as a family dog, good with children and not dog aggressive, which is what I need. Interested in seeing anyone's pictures of this type dog and hearing of their experience with the breeder. This is my first time buying a dog, so totally a novice. Does anyone know if the breeder does the parvo shots themselves, if this is as effective as a vet doing it, ie, is the vaccine itself the same strength and quality. Also is a second generation Malti-tzu (both parents Malti-tzus) a problem health wise in any way. Not finding much on the net about this issue, tho I have heard its better to get a 1st generation cross... Thanks a bunch and if anyone in the Tennessee area knows of puppies, with this crossbreed let me know please. IP: Logged |

about parvo shots it all depends on how old the pup is when you get it.my vet gave my pup his parvo shot but he was only 8 weeks when i got him.and it is better to get a first generation mix. with 2nd and so on generations there is more of a chance of health probs. so you would be doing best if mom and dad were pure bred. i don't have that mix but i have a shihpoo (shih tzu x poodle)and he's a sweetie.maltese are wonderfull from what i've heard and shih tzus are too so i think it would be a good mix.the one thing you need to remember is that when you mix two breeds the pup usually looks like the mom and acts like the dad good luck IP: Logged |

About the parvo shots: Once you have picked a breeder ask them about what shots they have given them. Also I wouldnt settle with someone who will give you the puppy before 12 wks of age. IP: Logged |
