Winnie got groomed today, and the woman did EVERYTHING. She is very short because she had some mats..Anyway, she cut her nails, but they are still very scratchy. It hurts when she scratches accidentaly. I feel bad becuse when she gets excited to see people, she jumps up so they can pet her. But her nails are scratchy, so she scratches them!!!Can I file them down with my nail file?

I tried filing my dogs nails and she gave me a really hard time. I was able to do it enough to make them less rigid though.

I always file my Toy Poodles nails after I trim them. I know the scratch you are talking about! She will get used to it after awhile if you start now. Otherwise you could ask the groomer to do it for you. I have done that in the past.

Just like the rest said yes go for it. I say it is a must. I like to use a dremel type tool and then I use one of those big emery boards for fake nails. The smoother side. works great.
