Thanks!! Shes my baby! She is a Shih/ToyPoo. I have never seen her parents. I wish I could have seen who was what. I have no trick to get rid of tear stains. She really doesnt have them. She gets "eye gook" in the corners of her eyes, and I just pull them out with warm water. It may be something that your dog is eating. I saw his pic on the other board. Or maybe its just the chemicals in his body. I have, however, seen Maltese babies with dark tear stains like yours. Have you tried the Show Eye pads? I dont think Shiztus or Toy Poodles get tear stains...I could be wrong though... IP: Logged |

She is a great dog. I would love to get another Shih-Poo. It gets very expensive though. Has anyone ever heard of Dog Insurance? IP: Logged |

She is amazing, much better up close than the teenie tiny teenie picture you first had. She definatley has the shitzy mouth. My poodle has a crooked underbite too. I have pet insurance for my poodle Sasha. It is a good idea to get it before anything starts happening healthwise or its not covered, You know like an ongoing sickness. Let me know if you want to know the sight. They have different packages. Luvpets: The stains could be from an allery. Even if you are giving him a good food, that food could still have something in it that he is allergic too. So like I had to do was keep trying different foods until you find the right one. Just because it is recommendable does not mean its perfect for your dog.Poodles can and do get staining. I have seen poodles that even get stains from licking the forearm of their legs or feet. It was the same pinkish tinge as on your dog. So I am not saying your food choice is bad (though I have not heard anyone recommend it also in my searchings)but it may just be wrong for your little one.He could be allergic to chicken, lamb, turkey. You just need to do the process of elimination. Most people have to change foods until they find what suites their dog. Please don't be offended. This is just my experience. IP: Logged |

I would love to know the site of the Dog Insurance...I have seen some expensive and some cheap ones out there. I currently use Care Credit with my Vet office. www.carecredit.com but that is even expensive...what do you suggest? IP: Logged |

Hi Everyone Just some FYI.... I have an 8 mo. old Pekapoo and he is white and had the worst eye "rust" stains. I bought this stuff called Tear Clear (I think) at the pet store, its in a white bottle, red cap, and it works! It is a clear water like liquid and I apply it when I give Joee a bath with a toothbrush. All I do is saturate the toothbrush with the stuff and brush it below his eye where the stains (were!) and rinse it off when I rinse the rest of his body. I only apply this stuff when I give him a bath, which is once a week, and it is gone!!!! It took about maybe three weeks before it really started disappearing that is because I only do it once at bath time. I pretty much do it now for preventative maintenance. I know others who have applied it two times a day or so and it took less time to disappear but I just didn't have the time to do that. But it works like magic! Please give it a try. I was also told by my vet that a lot of that staining is hereditary to the toy dog breed. I had a toy poodle growing up and it had the same thing. GOOD LUCK to anyone who needs to rid of this stuff!!
