i just read a post in the cats forum that was really sad.a poor man and his wife had a sick cat. they took their cat to the vet but couldn't afford to take the cat anymore.the vet would not take payments for care for the cat so that family had to lose their beloved pet all because the rules that vets have.it really angers me how vets do this.it's happened to me before.i had to call the humane society to pick up a dog that i had to have her put to sleep.because i could not afford to pay anymore vet bills.and she was in alot of pain so i had to do it and it was the hardest thing i ever had to do.all because the vet would not take payments.she might still be with me today.if i could have found a vet with a big enough heart to just help her.i think it's selfish and it's wrong to turn away an animal in need of care.most of all when the life of an animal depends on it. some of us think of our pets as our children and when they say they can't help us it's like saying they don't care. it's just not right i understand they do it that way so they get their money but if i were a vet and an animals life depended on my help i would help no matter what [This message has been edited by iluvmypup (edited 06-29-2003).] IP: Logged |

I agree, This is one reason I have pet insurance for my poodle and so far it has been totally worth it. Honestly no one knows when their dog will get hit by a car or attacked by a huge alaskan malamute(talking about Rufus)nearly a total of $600 dollars. For me if I have the money then there is no question of taking care of your hurting dog. Also a credit card that is nearly on zero for emergencies is a plus too. IP: Logged |

Where do you get pet insurance? Hmm, I wonder if i could get it...being a teenager and all. I really might wanna look into it. And yes, I've said for years that vets make me angry when they do that. Never happened to me, but i know of someone it has... IP: Logged |

Well, I have to agree with all of you. Why is it that hospitals can't refuse services for anyone reguardless of income, insurance etc. - but vets can? I work in a vet clinic and luckily we take pet insurance - but few clinics do. Out of our 1300 plus clients - only 2 regular clients have their pets insurred. Her are some sites to take a peek at to get some info. The PetCare Insurance is the only one I've seen in our clinic and the clients were very happy with it. It's just a matter of finding a vet that accepts insurance. Here are the web sites: www.petcareinsurance.com www.petinsurance.com Hope it helps! Best wishes everyone and Happy 4th!!! IP: Logged |
