I was looking over the site http://www.apbtconformation.com/faults.htm and I was reading about certain things considered "faults" in come Pits and I'm confused when it comes to the teeth. It seems that "level" teeth are a fault, an "underbite" is a fault and so is an "overbite". ?? Ok so whats not a fault. Im confused... ok, in pitbulls, an undershot and overshot jaw is considered a fault. Pitbulls ideally should have a scissor bite which means that their top and bottom teeth should clamp down tightly and in line with each other, both jaws should be in line and not pushed in or stuck out as in "undershot" and "overshot". My own females bottom jaw slightly overlaps her top one, I think thats from the boxer in her. So she has got an "overshot" bottom jaw. I hope that makes sense! IP: Logged |

The correct bite is a scissors bite... the upper front teeth meeting tightly over the lowers. For the side teeth, the upper ones should sit in front of the lowers when the jaw is closed, if that makes sense. IP: Logged |

Ok thanks. Our female has a slight underbite but the males bit is perfect. I'm hoping our new pups develop the males bite. Thanks again, Trae IP: Logged |

Ok I was wrong! it seems that an "undershot" jaw is when the bottom teeth protrude over the top ones so the "top" jaw is "undershot." My female has an undershot top jaw. An "overshot" jaw is the top jaw sticking out over the bottom one, sort of like goofy I guess! IP: Logged |
