I am trying to get together a packet of Pit Bull based information and general things for a friend who just had a litter of Pitties. I know, I know!! They should not have bred, but they did and that is not my doing nor can I do anythign to help it, however I would like them to have information for the new owners to take with the puppy to help educate them a bit on puppies in general and especially Pit Bull's breed dogs. So far I have..

* Contract for sales

* Puppy Immunitations and appropriate ages for them

* Breed information

* Appropriate foods and ages to switch, not any store brand cheap crappy stuff on the list

* Safe puppy toys

* Training tips

* Aggressive behavior and how to recognize and work with it

* I put tips on traing the dominant dog (We allo know that will happen) and separation anxiety, house breaking, crate training things like that.

Anyhow, part of the contract is mandatory spaying and neutering of the puppies- I wrote up why that is so important. I am pussled with what else to put in there, any and all suggestions are very much appreciated. Thank you all in advance!

Maybe "training the potential owner to live harmoniously with their pitbull" I guess it sounds kinda dumb, but you seem to have covered the most important things. Good luck to your friends on their new litter. I don't condone breedings either but what's done is done and I hope they get the advice they need. The most important thing though is to make sure that they all go to GOOD homes.

So you don't think i should consider breeding my pooch. I thought you said he was SOOOOOOOO cute, huh!? Again, J/K ... But, i'd love to read why "not". I kinda think i know what your gonna say, but not really.
If you do think it's OK, please, inform me on some things. Tank-Q!

Goodboy-- You are so funny!!! It reminds me of where I am from, there is a lot of french accented people (right along Canadian border) and the way they pronounce Thank you is tank-Q or three is Tree. There are a lot of other things but it is funny hearing it from a Ca boy.!! lol

As far as the breeding thing goes, that is completely your decision. If you feel you must breed than okay. But please do your research and see to it that these puppies go to good homes. And please breed for good reasons and make sure to know the history of both dogs. It is not my decision or business and I will not hold it against you if you do breed, however, I am a big animal lover especially dogs and it hurts to see them sitting in shelters waiting for forever homes trying to keep their hopes up and then one day they take that final march to the chamber. It just really bothers me to know that people do not care that these precious animals, regardless of breed or whether they are puppies or adults, have disabilities, purebreed or not, just all of those stupid little things that people hold against dogs, they sit in these shelters for reasons they are not to blame for and the majority of them die there. It reminds me of being younger. I hated school and doctors appointments. Sometimes my parents would just drop me off and after I would sit there waiting for hours thinking they forgot me. So scared, so alone, not knowing anyone, not being able to go anywhere. It is the only thing I can compare to them. The thought that no one is coming back for you-- only my parents always did. These dogs have to sit there for days, weeks, months, and sometimes years-- they wait out their death and each new person that comes through the door they just put on a happy face and try to be their best in hopes that they will get to go home to a family. That is why I do not encourage breeding.. Help any??
My reasons for not wanting these people to breed is their Pit's aren't even papered for crying out loud. Anyhow, goodboy. I just hope that you think it through and do extensive research to be positive this is what you want to do. And if you decide to, good luck..

W e l l t h e n,
j/k. I actually had that thought, & it's definatly in the front of thoughts, but i guess i just needed to hear it. Great explanation, i feel yah! It wound'nt be right, especially to just jump right into it. There's a whole lotta things i need to understand about this whole breeding/stud thing. It's intersting though. I've always wanted to learn about it all.

I completely agree with Angie. It seems like the dogs in animal shelters are sent to death row for crimes that they didn't commit except being born!

Thats why I got both my dogs from shelters. Even though I can't save them all I think saving two dogs for just one person is a good start!!

Right we cant save them all but we can try to educate enough people to spay and neuter and not breed litters without reason. I think it would be really neat to try to work with genetics and try to better a breed but goodness it would cost soo much money. Thats why I stick with my pound puppies

I think that it is wonderful that you are working so hard to let people know how to handle these puppies! I got my ChynaDoll from some people who were going to send her & her 3 remaining pups(6 mos old) to the pound. Quickly we realized that she is pregnant again. I immediately fell in love with them all but know nothing of the breed. It is great to know that there are people who truly do care. This gives me some great ideas for the new litter and some good tips for momma. Thanks
