If your aiming to breed mutts then I guess it is a good breeding. But why would you want to bring more mutts into a world full of them is silly.....

You can technically breed Pit Bull's and Boxers, but all that you will get is a mixed breed dog. Half of them maybe will not even go- it is not good breeding nor is it very smart breeding. You are just BEGGING for genetic defects with these puppies because both dogs have different general health issue possibilities, but when you cross the two who knows what health problems you get. There is no reason to breed them and to be honest it is something that gives people a bad name when they cross breed like that, so please tell your friend that it is not a good idea.

Actually mixed dogs are healthier than pure breds. The mix I have seen many times. There are tons in the shelters. They have good temperaments and are very nice looking but they are MUTTS and lord knows we dont need more of those in the shelters.

WHY OH WHY OH WHY?????
Unless you are breeding to better the breed or to show then you have no business breeding. Did you know to solve the pet overpopulation problem every person would have to own 11 dogs?
Do you know how many dogs die in shelters?? If you want a mutt or mutt puppies go save one from a kill shelter and leave breeding to the professionals.
In the mean time tell your friend to neuter his dog. It will better his life in the long run, keep him clear of certain cancers, and curb tendencies to run away from home to mate.

My dog is Pitbull/boxer mix. She is a good dog and very friendly. I found her in the dog pound. She was skinny, flea and worm infested and she was very timid and scared. Unless your friend wants his pups to end up the same way then tell him NOT to breed his dog!!

Funny thing,Bennyboy,I had a white boston a few years ago,and a lovely white female pit.I actually tried to breed them but she was picky!Whereas she would shriek in joy to see another male pit,and practically kill herself to get to him, every time my boston would try to mount her,she would look disgusted and jump away! Oh well...As they were both very typy I was sure the pups would be gorgous, and I planned to keep them all,but no luck!Incidentally,I am out of the dog breeding 'game' as over & million are destroyed in shelters yearly, mutts and purebreds alike.

Here are two pictures of what a Boston Terrier X Pit Bull mix would look like.. Jekkyl and his brother are the only survivors, however, that is their breed.

This is Jekkyl...

And this is Kelu...

I hope these pics worked.. if not I will do it again..

I have a pit/boxer mix, Monk. He is 2 years old, perfectly healthy and the biggest comedian I have ever met. We love him very much, and with MUCH TRAINING he has become as big a part of our "pack" as our other dogs. I do rescue work and am a trainer and the only problem I see in intentionally breeding these dogs is that there are ALREADY so many who need good homes. Any responsible person will spay/neuter. Other than that, there is NO PROBLEM breeding these 2 breeds. Be prepared for a very strong, energetic and stubborn dog. And those who said mixed breed dogs have less health problems are right.

I have two of what you may call MUTTS but to me they are dogs, plain and simple.
The word MUTT is used as an insulting term, they did not ask to be born, Irresponsible people are to blame, not the dog. I understand the feelings some may have about keeping breeds pure, and that should be left to a hand full of legitimate breeders, but to think any less of a dog because he is a mixed breed is hateful.
In my opinion all dogs should be fixed, regardless if they have papers or not, in order to get a grip on the unwanted pet population. Many pure breed dogs end up in shelters too.

Tell your friend before he thinks about breeding his dog; have him do some volunteer work at a local shelter, which may change his mind on wanting to bring puppies into this world.

I'm confused if all dogs are fixed then they will become exstinct, there would be no more dogs for the future generation to enjoy. I couldn't live without my dogs.

In order to curb the pet overpopulation problem everyone would have to own bt 9-15 dogs and breeders would have to completely stop breeding.
I dont feel calling a dog a mutt is insulting what so ever. My most loyal loving best friend was a "mixed breed", mutt, heinz 57, all american, whatever you wish to say.
However it is irresponsible breeding to continue breeding mixed breeds when there are not enough homes for the dogs that are out there.
It is irresponsible breeding to just breed your dog bc it is a pure bred.
Dogs should only be bred to better temperment, health and breed.
Otherwise we wouldnt have the pet overpopulation and the high kill rate that we have today.
Your right Halo both mixed and pure breds should be steralized if they are not responsible enough to curb unwanted breeding.
If there isnt a demand then they shouldnt be bred no matter what type of dog it is.

Im not saying wipe out dogs, goodness what would I do??
Im just saying that no one should just be walking down the street one day and decide...HEY! I think I will breed my dog!
The best breeders are those who take waiting lists for litters and screen the potential homes. Then only breed when they have the demand for it.
I am just bewildered by the people who think hum wouldnt it be cute to have a yorkie poodle?? Lets go breed a ton of yorkie poodles and see what happens.
Or it would be cruel and unfair to neuter or spay my dog. Its not natural. Then they get a litter of 12 puppies and then go dump them off in the pound.
It should be more like HEY! Lets breed more dogs to stock the pound! I really dont think they have enough down there...Lets help them out!
