I have a 13 day old orphan pit pup.He has a runny nose and cough. He doesn't want to eat he spits out his bottle and coughs. I am very conserned and will probably take him to the vet tomorrow. Does anyone know whats wrong with him? IP: Logged |

if you have raised him from birth, was he kept continually warm? If not he may have contracted pnemonia. He needs a heating pad to lay on until he is at least three weeks old, or two normal hot water bottles will work if they are changed every two hours to keep him warm. Very young pups also need constant feeding especially bottle fed pups- every 3-4 hours with a specially formulated puppy milk you can get from your local vet. If he has contracted pnemonia it might be too late for a vet to help him. Good luck for you and your pup. Remember warmth is the key. IP: Logged |
