I Have Been Looking Into Getting A Pit And Then I Thought O No In Denver It Is Illegal To Own A Pitbull So It Might Be For Me 2!!!So Does Anyone Know Of A Place To Check If It Is Illegal To Own A Pit In My Area

Your best resource would be your local humane society. If you have never owned a pit before, I would suggest doing alot of research on them before you get one. Just a few reasons, they are very time consuming, very loyal dogs and you are a celebrity in their eyes. They want to be with you 24/7, require lots of excersize, socialization with other dogs, cats, kids, adults, men, women is extremely important from day 1. Obedience training is a great way to socialize and spend quality time with your dog. Before you pick the 1st cute pup you see, know the breeder...interview them per se. Ask them questions about the parents/grandparents, ie. temperment, health as you can run into alot of out of pocket expenses on top of what you spent when you purchased her. I found that out the hard way when I got my first pit. But that goes for any breed really.
I wish you luck. They are really a great breed if you have the time, patience and knowlege. Hopefully someday they too will come to find out what a great dog a pit can be and ban the breed specific legislation against them.

Great advice Bobbi!! As far as BSL's in certain areas, PBRC has a list of them for all states, you can view them at www.pbrc.net/breedspecific.html, that goes for anyone converned with BSL law's in their area. Here is what it says about the Denver area...

Colorado
"Pit Bulls" are prohibited in Denver per Section 8.55 of the municipal code and city limits of Castle Rock. BSL is also present in Commerce City, Northglenn, and Wellington

Sec. 8-70. Spaying and neutering.
It is the purpose of this section to promote the health, safety and general welfare of the residents of the city by reducing the number of stray dogs and cats. The council finds that each year tens of thousands of dogs and cats are euthanized in the city because they are not wanted. It is the purpose of this section to eliminate the excessive number of unwanted animals and thereby stop the needless killing of these animals by restricting the breeding practices of pet owners and breeders through legislation that is both reasonable and enforceable.

Sec. 8-71. Prohibition.
It shall be unlawful to own, possess or keep in the city any dog or cat over the age of six (6) months that has not been spayed or neutered except as provided in section 8-72.

Sec. 8-72. Exceptions.
The prohibition contained in section 8-71 shall not apply:
(1) If a licensed veterinarian states in writing that an animal is unfit to undergo the required surgical procedure because of an extreme health condition of the animal. Such extreme health condition shall include, but not be limited to: severe cardiovascular compromise, bleeding disorder, respiratory disease and hepatic disease. The old age of an animal shall not, of itself, constitute an extreme health condition for purposes of this section.
(2) If the owner of the animal annually obtains a permit from the Denver Animal Shelter to possess an animal that is not neutered. The permit shall be issued or renewed only if the department determines that the following conditions have been met:
a. The animal is examined regularly by a licensed veterinarian;
b. The animal is vaccinated annually for rabies and other common diseases;
