Hi! Okay, I am new and I have a quick question about whether there is a genetic relationship between nose and eye color. I have noticed that red-nosed Pitties tend to have amber or yellowish/green eyes, but not brown eyes. Is there any logical explanation behind this or is it simply my imagination or coincidence? BTW: I am currently owned by a lovely APBT who is an absolute delight to have around. Her name is Mina (hence, MissMinaGirl) Thanks, IP: Logged |

Yes, I am all for instant gratification. This is definitely quicker. Perhaps, I will finally gather up the "courage to do the research myself! I am just so lazy. Marji IP: Logged |

Yes, lighter pigmented dogs (rednoses, blues, blue fawns, etc) do often have lighter eyes than dogs with deeper pigment (buckskin, black, etc). I'd guess that it's simply because the pigmentation isn't as deep... so the color of the iris is also lighter. Could also be that it's just a trait that was in the original breeding stock, and due to linebreeding, etc, has stuck around in most examples of those colors. IP: Logged |
