I am considering a career with animals. I was think of becoming a veterinarian because you get to work with animals and you get a good pay. I was wondering if anyone nows anything about veterinarians or if anyone can give me an email of a veterinarian that could help me. Any help will be appreciated thank you! IP: Logged |

Hello possible Veterinarian, If your young, meaning under 25 years old (no-offense to the elder-LOL) than go for it w/ all that you have. Understand that you will have to put 10-15 years of studing for the state, &/or the national board exam. Yes, 10-15 years! Most veterinarians & RVT/AHT- Registered Vet Technician, or Animal Health Technicians don't even get paid what their worth. For the time you put in school and the amount you get in your paychecks, does'nt seem to match. Yes you'll be a doctor, and yes you could be a doctors nurse, but they don't get even close to what doctors & nurses for humans get paid. Remember, our "law" still/JUST considers our beloved family companions as PROPERTY, and NOT really a living thing. I consider dogs to be the closes thing to actually owning a human-being!!! Our law believes otherwise. I guess what i'm trying to mention & i'm sure "they" (Vets, Tech's, teachers, etc.) will also tell is that, you should'nt go into this line of work thinking that your going to make tons of money. This has to be something from the heart. Well, that's the excuse they always told me. Untill they get the recognition, expect to get paid less than "human doctors & technicians". To find info on programs or schools that offer this line of study, just go on the internet and type veterinarian schools in 'your city or state'. Same goes for VT shools. Good Luck! It's a reachable destination, it just matters if your willing to go the distance, for what it's worth, to you. ------------------ IP: Logged |
