the goverment and councils have over looked the mental trauma these laws are causing people,my son suffers from depression , and has stated that if the queensland council takes his innocent dog because of his breed
he will take his own life, we are not allowed to move to any shire in brisbane, because of our beautiful innocent pitty. this is a terrible case of abuse by councils and goverment all over the world . there are many families out there that love there pets
what ever breed they are. And there are many families that also suffer from mental illnessess. Depression ,Bipolar, post traumatic stress disorder, schizephrenia,
and the goverment has no empathy. The anxiety , the panic, the fear. The emotional
and pshycological effects that it is having on families , and the innocent breeds , that have never hurt anyone. i have now contacted all mental health services in australia and i will keep targetting them , health ministers, goverment minister, mental institutes, I am not prepaired to lose my son , over this disgusting law, i will fight. youth suicide in 1998, 453 youths between the age's of 10 and 24 committed suicide. I also wont to no who do i sue when my son does take his own life , Mr beattie,
Nita Cunningham, Jim Sorely, Kent wain, or is it the councils. all because of a breed of dog, just because the goverment say it;s a pitbull kill it. what a sick world we live in. start targetting mental health, and unite and fight , these discriminating, victimising laws. Like i said i am not going to lose my son over these filthy laws.I will take my son story to the media. Because the stress the council has put on us.

I feel for you, my heart goes out to your son for his devotion to his beloved companion. I as well have suffered from depression and understand. Recently they have closed certain areas of the largest mental institution here where I live and the government just ignored the fact that all these people were being put on the street to fend for themselves...well that is if they can make it across the HWY with out being killed.

What else can we do..the media has done their job and brain washed the majority of the people to believe this breed is dangerous to the extent it will kill any human that crosses it's path. We know better, but there are so few of us out there. How can we start collecting more people in support of this breed. I know where I live I have only met one person that has as much of a passion for this breed (if not more)than I do and this is a very recent contact met via forums. I know quite a few APBT owners and not a one shares the same passion for the breed as I, yet their dogs are just as wonderful. If you would like to start a petition such as the one now listed on this forum I know my signature is there!

This is a sad situation, and obviously very heartbreaking for you.

I read of another similar situation. A young man with mental and physical problems who adopted a pit bull named Sophie who, with her unconditional love, much improved this man's life.

However, his landlord insisted the pit bull had to go.

The founder of Spindletop Rescue, who is quite an Posted byity on the breed, offered to take Sophie into her home for several days to test her temperament.

Sophie passed with flying colors and was declared a stable and loving dog. This was not good enough for the landlord, who said the young man should get "a poodle or a Lab". I don't know the outcome of the legal battle, but I fear it was not good.

Banning a breed is not the answer. The type of people who are creating the problem would just move on to another breed. And it's these people who need to be dealt with. This is a fairly new phenomenon. After all, who heard about pit bull attacks before the 1980's? This breed has been around a long time and never caused trouble before.

Doesn't take a rocket scientist to see banning a breed will not do a postive thing at all.

Tybrax,
Let me just start of by saying I am so sorry for what you are going threw. No one should ever have to be put threw anything like this.
The only way to change things is to stand up and fight for what you believe in.The more we get the word out to people that dose not know what is going on the better.
My goal is to try to chance just one persons mind a day about pitbulls. If you do the same, and then they do the same.Just look at how many people we would have on our side. That is when you take it to the government.
I will help you in any way I can.Just let me know what I can do.

To all the guys who responed to my story thankyou , at the moment i am targetting all mental health organisation over australia for support. goverment minister, the whole lot . this is a disgusting law , and what is it going to take for the world to realise , that some might take there life , for the love of there pet. this is the ignorance of the qld, and all the state goverments , that never even took into consideration. families are deeply affected by this outrages law , pets offer children and families nonjudgemental and unconditional love , as they do all of us. there are many forms of depression , and people and children can sink further and further into it until the euphoria is so bad they are hospitalised for treatment. and what about the regression, children and families regress and develomentally that there families suffer.
And the withdrawals from families and friends ,nightmares children and adults suffer through taking there pet away , and then we have the fear and abandonment , families and children associate abandonment with the lose of there pet , and for what reason ,lets condem the pitty , your seized because of your breed . your dead , sick goverments , councils , america target all mental health Posted byities , goverment health
ministers, aim for support from organisations such as youth suicide , get there support, make the goverment wake up ,
or is it going to someone committing suicide
becasue they love there pet.
