My 7 month old pug was spayed today - she has been shaking since we picked her up - she drank some water - but also vomitted a little before the water - is there anything i can or should be doing for her? is it normal for her to shake? it's not convulsions or anything - kind of like she is getting a chill - is this normal?

Hmm..I don't remember any shaking when Natalie was spayed but they also kept her overnight so Im not sure how she was right after the surgery.
Maybe you can call your vet and ask what he/she thinks?

Anesthesia can cause vomitting and shakes in people and animals. I know it affected me that way recently. As the anesthesia wears off so will the shakes. They will be gone in about 24 hours or so. ALso remember it went through a traumatic experience being away from you and in the hands of evil strangers so part of the shakes *could* be nerves. Good luck!

My aussie did the same thing when she was spayed exept the weather was extremely hot so i was really worried abt her getting overly dehydrated because everytime she would drink she would erp it back up..(poor baby) anyway then i started giving her a few laps of water every 10-15 min and after abt 3-4 hours she was doing much better and quit erping.goodluck

Everytime one of my animals has been under anesthesia and they are coming out of it they shake. The car ride can make them vomit, they are still woozie. Don't give her water until she can walk to it herself, at leaste thats what I am always told. Just snuggle the little darling up in your lap and let her sleep it off.

The anistesia makes them very thirsty. Only allow a sip or two. Too much causes them to vomit. Also make the dog walk, it will help to rid the body of the anisteia(sp) affects. You can put a doggie sweater on her until the wound has healed.

My dog also vomited and was very shaken after we had picked her up from the vet. You dog will be ok. My vet did suggest not to put anything over the wound, it wouldn't heal properly if something was put over it, also to stop it from getting irritated.
