I bought a little bassett last week on wednesday. He was a great little guy that seemed fine until late Thursday night. He started to puke and such. All day friday while I was at work my roomate called me and told me that little Flash (my basset) was puking everywhere. Well, I was going to take him to the vet on Saturday to get his shots anyway. So I decided the little guy needs me and I took off work early to take him in. Flash did not bark, just laid there. I knew something was wrong. Sure enough after he was examined... He as Parvo.. He has been there ever since. I have been visiting him and he is so skinny and only barks ocassionally. I saw him today and he looks terrible. I am so worried. It is the 4th day. I know this is probably gonna be super expensive, but I figure he has a better shot there. I am super worried. IP: Logged |

It's a terrible disease. Our thoughts are with you and your little Flash. Where did you get him from? A breeder? A shelter? A petstore? Make sure you inform whomever about the parvo - it is highly contagious. In fact, you are going to need to treat your house quite extensively. Do a search both in this forum and the internet for parvo and disinfecting after parvo.

I had a dog once that got Parvo and I thought I was going to lose her too. She spent 7 days at the vet and finally got better so she could come home. So don't give up on Flash........he needs your strength and love. IP: Logged |
