Hi, I'm worried about Casey, she is so skinny! even though I feed her alot. I have boiled her chicken, and she eats her dry food as well as cheese, and whatever else kind of treat I can think of. Do you have any suggestions for a new mommie's diet? Mike thanks for the chicken idea, it was a good one! Thanks in advance for your help. Sincerely, Susan IP: Logged |

Susan, those babies really take alot as you can see! I'm guessing on this one, but I would feed her as much good quality food as she wants to eat. Are you free feeding her or does she eat on a schedule? Maybe someone can offer some fattening up recipes for moms. I know my horse trainer who raises Boxers always complains about how much the pups take off mom. His female always looks skinny for a bit, he babies her along. IP: Logged |

I would say that is completely normal. My own dog after giving birth was really skinny for about two weeks until she left the pups more and her appetite returned to normal. Its amazing how much weight they lose after giving birth but its also amazing how quickly the weight is put it back on! I wouldn't worry, you should start to notice her gain weight in a few days-week. ![]() IP: Logged |
