I know this isn't the cat forum, but I know you guys better and I need reassurance.

One of my kitties appears to have not eaten today, and she just refused a treat. She LOVES those treats. Usually I shake the can and cats come out of the woodwork trying to get to me. I was trying to find her and was shaking the can but she was not coming.

My daughter found her and I tried to give her a treat, but she licked it and then ignored it. Her eyes look like there is a bit of a discharge, but not really thick or anything, and not too much.

I called the vet (our mouse vet, actually) and the technician said to watch her but if she got worse or I was concerned later on to go ahead and take her to the emergency vet. Otherwise she said I could bring her in tomorrow if she was still not feeling well.

She is 13 years old but has never been sick ever in her entire life. She doesn't act old.

I can't find anywhere that hurts. But the last pet that refused a treat was my dog, and she died that same night. I am panicking.

I tried taking her temperature with a child's ear thermomenter. Don't know if that works or not.

Once it was 102.9 and the next try was 102.3. The other cat was 101.5. (They were not happy.) I found a website that said normal is 101-102.2.

Ugh. I hate worrying.

Awwww... take a deep breath Jimaya. What color is the discharge in her eyes? Does she seem to be breathing ok? no runny nose or stuffiness? Do you know how to take a cats temp? If the vet didn't seem alarmed...thats probably a good sign. Elises cat is 12 and he doesn't act old either but he does have days where he just sleeps and sleeps and sleeps. Sometimes he ignores us when we call sometimes he won't leave us alone. The normal temp for a cat is between 101 and 102.2, but can vary without it meaning the cat is sick. Just like people we run different temps for our norms.

Jimiya, oh your poor kitty! I would watch her closely and then take her to the vet. I know how you feel - My cat has over the years has had respratory issues. Just recently he has started getting worse - his dry hacking cough and weezing is getting worse and is he has been throwing up more. My husband pointed out that I recently switched his food and he brought a mouse in the other day and he ate it right in front of us yuk! which be be some of the problem.

A sign of not eating is usually they are not feeling well. Could she have gotten into something?
Has Nayla upset her in that respect. I wouldnt think so since you had her awhile now.
If she hasnet eaten by mornign I would take her in.
Good luck

The discharge is mostly clear, and just a little bit whiteish goopy stuff. Not really yellow or green, which is good.

I'm out of covers for the ear thermometer. I guess I will just let her be and watch her. She did come upstairs of her own volition.

Jamiya- maybe your cat has a cold or the flu? I am not sure if they can get viruses from humans, but does anyone or has anyone in the family had the flu bug or a cold? Have you checked her over for any sores or puncture wounds from your all too friendly cat-loving Nala? A scratch or cut can easily become infected and make a cat feel lethargic, stop eating etc. Does your cat go outside? Is she bathing herself and drinking water? Is this the cat that Nala licks and approaches, or is this the one that is petrified of Nala and won't go near her?

No wounds that I can find. No one is sick, and she has never got sick from any of us before. She drinks out of Nala's water sometimes, but Nala is acting fine. She's an inside cat.

She walked by a little while ago so I think she is not in immediate danger.

Both cats are terrified of Nala, but the sick one is the one that is too...errr, mentally challenged....to stay away from her. So she is the one that gets caught and licked and nibbled on.

I'm not sure if she is bathing or drinking water. She has been asleep most of the evening and just went down to the basement.

I will keep an eye on her. She probably just has a cold. I wouldn't be too worried if it weren't for what happened to my dog this summer.

YAY!! She just ate two treats and her eyes don't look gummy anymore.

Weird. But good!
