Hi,
I have a dog that is 13 years old. His name is Jake and he is a cockapoo. He is essentially all I have other than a 55-gallon aquarium of fish. My dog was diagnosed last year with cardio myopathy. He has had an ECG and X-rays done. The vet told me that he wouldnt live long (has been over a year). I was told he has an enlarged heart and presses against his trachia (causes coughing/gagging). Because his heart works so hard, it causes a build up of bile in his abdomon (he has a sore stomach sometimes) and he sometimes spits up bile. His symptoms are that he coughs/gags a lot and gets tired easily. He was a very active dog (as am I) and went with me everywhere. I was wondering if anyone has this problem and could you explain what you have experienced. I'm not really sure what to expect, and I have noticed the coughing has increased and sounds worse.
Thank-you - Lindsay
