I have a puppy that seems to not want to get fat he eats and eats drinks plenty of water real playful all the time but you can see his ribs what can I do to get him fatter..I am feeding him purina healthy moursles. HELP PLEASE IP: Logged |

It may just be that he works off everything he eats! My britany is the same way! He is healthy, and you can see his ribs, but he doesn't want to eat anymore, he just runs it all off I think! [This message has been edited by tuttifrutti (edited 11-15-2003).] IP: Logged |

Hi, Has Your Puppy been wormed recently?? Is your puppy hyperactive? If so then he will need to be fed more than usual or you can try a high protien high fat food.. What kind of dog is it??? Boiled chicken or lamb with boiled rice is a good high protien food that you can feed him its high in fat and also stops dogs from having problems with there poops.. My friends labrador would not gain weight and he fed normal food in the morning then about 3 hours later fed lamb and rice then 4 hours later it was normal food and for his last feed it was lamb and rice he gained weight within 3 weeks. Have a word with your vet who should be able to give advice on how much you should feed your puppy. i was feeding my pups 4 times aday till they were 1yr old well the pups i kept anyway the people that took the others did the same and they are big boned strong german shepherds.... The first year of a puppy's life is important so all the protiens vitamins and so on they can get the better IP: Logged |

My Max is the same way. We feed the recommended amount of Innova. They go by weight, percent of adult weight and what activity level your dog is. He still is very skinny and you definitely can see his ribs. Most people I talk to say that this is ok for a puppy because he will soon grow up and out. if you have elminated worms I would just keep watch on it. We just started Innova recently, if Max doesn't get any better I think we will make a quick trip to the vet jst to see what she says. IP: Logged |
