From what you say in your post, I would assume she acts that way to them because she is allowed to. She has placed herself higher in the family pack ranking than your wife and mother in law, and why not??? They are the only ones who can establish their rank on the family ladder over her. I think she will continue with that behavior until they do. However, she is a 7 week old pup, and thats very very young, this is the point where if she had been left with mom she would be doing the snarling and nipping with her litter mates and mother and would be learning some lessons about whats appropriate, like bite inhibition. In the abscence of mom and siblings, you, your wife and mother in law are now her "pack", you will have to teach her those lessons. You didn't explain what you meant by dicipline or being abrupt...you do need to keep in mind that she is just a puppy and puppies play rough. Don't expect too much, be patient, consistent and REWARD the good behavior. IP: Logged |
