I have a 16 year old, female mixed bread dog that three days ago simply stopped eating. She still drinks water. When i try feeding her anything she just turnes her head away. I realize she is old and this might be the final stage but it seems to have come on so suddenly. I have had the Vet look at her and he drew blood and now i am waiting but thought if any advice was out there i would really appreciate it.

Hi Phillip, Sorry to hear about your girl. Having a vet check was wise and I know the waiting is tough. You may want to try this recipe for Satin balls, unless your dog is overweight, then it may not be wise as it will put weight on a dog rapidly. http://www.holisticdog.org/Nutrition/Satinballs/satinballs.html

This may also help, it says the recipe is good for anemic dogs, nursing mothers and dogs who refuse to eat.
PUDDING RECIPE

Mix
large 4 cup size vanilla pudding,
1/2 cup sugar,
4 cups of milk, and
4 egg yolks.
Cook on low heat to pudding consistency and offer to new mother at body temperature. She can eat as much as she wants. Has never caused diarrhea and brings in abundance of milk!!!

OR from scratch...

mix the following in a saucepan and cook to pudding consistency.

2/3 cup sugar
6 tablespoons cornstarch
1/2 teas salt
4 cups milk (or one can evap milk plus equal parts water to make quart)
4 egg yolks
3 teasp vanilla.

feed with syringe, on spoon, or let eat from bowl.

full of protein and nourishment....have never had it cause diarrhea.
