In training class a few weeks ago the trainer told us how bad it is to have the jingling dog tags on your dogs neck. Since they have much better hearing, the jinglind noise really effects their hearing and may even cause deafness. He told us if anyone came in next week with jingling tags we'd have to wear his cow bell. He suggested taping the tags together. Since I found the noise really irritating myself I bought Max a collar tag that just lays flat on his collar.

Just some food for thought.

I bought tag pockets for my dogs, they were about $5.00, if you look at Dooley in this picture you can see his, it's green. It has a little ring inside the pocket that you attach their tags to, then snap shut. It slides onto their collar. Personally I left one tag out of the pocket on each dog...just my preference, you know if he got lost I want to make SURE they see that tag. His rabies, license, a second address and name tag and his microchip tag are all inside the pocket. Witts is from a different company and it's a little lower profile. They sure are nice...nice and quiet.

What a great idea! Where did you get the tag pockets, Maisey?

When my dog died this summer, I swear I could still hear her tags jingling. Every time I went in the backyard I could hear them and I would look for her to round the corner. Then I would cry.
