I think of the treats in categories lol,
Training: I want somethin really small but also something they are totally mad for. I like mozzorella cheese sticks, you just tear off tiny pieces.

Busy: the busy treat is the "keep them out of my hair" one...I like raw meaty bones, horse or cow hooves, natural(no chemicals) rawhide chews and a whole apple. With the apple I just learned they should not ever get the core as they could get arcenic poisoning. I will still give them a whole apple, maybe core it or just watch for when he gets close. Mine will play with an apple for a long time out in the yard.

Teeth cleaning : I like Greenies and so do the dogs.

I recently discovered Natures Variety freeze dried or dehydrated chewy treats, the company does all natural, only organic raw foods and these treats are, liver, tripe, pizzle, achellies tendons etc. and they are all like jerky so they last a bit. My dogs will do back flips for these!
For homemade treats look on the FOOD FOR THOUGHT thread, I think it was RottyMommy who posted a whole bunch of really great looking recipes.
