Hi I am new here and I love animals. I am also working on setting up an online pharmacy JUST FOR animals! I can't wait! I already use Petmeds.com alot. What do you guys think about online petmeds? Or would just an in-person veterinarian be safer? Thanks.

There is alot of talk about meds not being what they really are sold online. People and probably pets getting things that are not really what they need. I won't buy meds, but I have bought advantage. Welcome to the forum, we do apreciate you being here.

All of the vets we use refuse to write prescriptions for the online meds because they say the meds are inferior - expired or whatever. So I won't buy them, no matter what the price is.

Welcome ! To be honest, I have heard about meds not being what they claim to be on line as well, both for humans and pets. I personally have not and probably would not buy meds online.

I've nver bought "anything" online, but i've also been suspitious about getting what i payed for durring a visit to the veterinary hospital, or dermatologist for example. For instance, when i buy 500mgs of a certain drug, how do i know if they actually gave me 250mgs, intead of 500mgs? Even worse, how would i know if they even gave me the right prescription. A lot of prescription drugs serve a same purpose/do the same job. Is there a way to be sure of all this? Just curious

I have bought advantage, frontline, and program online. They come in the exact same package as you get from the vet. It's the same product.

As far as vets telling people that the advantage etc.. is inferior or expired, that just isn't true. I used to work on 1800 contacts and eye doctors would tell their patients the same thing. Then they would charge 2-3 times more for the same product. They use that expired/inferior line to keep people buying stuff from them.

I don't know about other prescriptions, but I trust the pre-packaged products that have a manufacturers expiration date on them. In my experience with contacts, dr's can lower their prices to match places like 1800 contacts, and some do, the ones that don't profit from the markup.
