I would suggest a cock-a-poo I have had two and they are smart but gentle Iwould not recomend a real small dog because of the two year old small children are hard on puppies and they are hard on them

I would recomend a miniature schnauzer. They are really smart and once you get one you will want another one. I dont know anyone that has just one miniature schnauzer, they have more then one! I agree, I wouldnt get a really small dog either!
