Our little rat terrier has brought us so much joy we have been thinking about getting a playmate for her. Of course we want to wait until we get her completely potty trained and such but I wanted to know if anyone knew anything about Boston Terriers. I think they are just adorable and I want to make sure that she (Ellie) would get along ok. I know the Boston Terrier would be a little bigger, but they seem like nice dogs. Any suggestions? Make sure you do some research and really consider whether Ellie WANTS a playmate. If you go ahead with it, also do research on how to introduce them to make things go as smoothly as possible. Can't help you with the Boston Terrier part.

We recently started having playdates with a friend and her dogs. She has 2 American Staffordshire terriers and a Boston terrier named Pixie. I have an Aussie mix and a Catahoula X pup, both quite a bit bigger than her dogs and I was worried mine might trample the litte Boston. Not a chance, lol, she loved playing with them and was very good at staying clear of being run over. She was a delight, very sweet and charming. My big lug of a Catahoula pup chose her as his favorite playmate. I am not a little dog person, but I would take her in a heartbeat. This same Boston competes in weight pulls if you can picture that! Here is a link to the AKC description and standard for the Boston terrier. This site is all Boston terrier and they have a message board too. This site has really good information! http://www.k9web.com/dog-faqs/breeds/bostonterriers.html
Hope this helps in your research. IP: Logged |
