Now that I have been bragging for the last 6 months about Jake being a new dog after I switched him to Innova - well I have a problem. Even though he is ane dog, he is having some new problems like itching and chewing. And I took him to hisd regular vet a few months ago because he know has this black yuk in his lip folds, he scratches and makes it bleed, well my vet said oh it is just "old dog disease" keep it clean with peroxide and put some neosporine on it. Thre has been no change, so I took him to a different vet Sat. She said it is lip fold Pyroderma, and needs to be on antiobotics, she said most likely caused by a food allergy along with his scratching. Innovas main 3 ingredients are chicken, it also has some dairy down the list. But I think it may be the chicken. She also said that they used to think Lamb and rice was good for allergies, but more dogs are becoming allergic to lamb. Of coarse she wants me to put him on Hills allergy food. I looked at the ingredients and the first 3 ingredients are corn. So I said no because I think most of his original problems were due to the corn. I am looking at solid gold lamb (could also possibly be allergic) and natures recipe Her is solid gold ingredients and Natures recipe Venison Meal & Rice Unique venison meat protein source not commonly found in dog foods Metabolizable Energy: 303 Kcal per standard 8-oz. cup (based on average analysis)

I can't help you with any personal experience, but I did find these two non-chicken foods: California Natural Lamb Meal and Rice I know someone on this board loves the Avoderm product, and I believe it eliminated some itchiness and allergy problems. California Natural is manufactured by the same company that does Innova, so maybe you can find it in your town? (Or the pet store could order it from the same supplier it already uses?) Good luck, and hopefully others will have more info for you.
