Hi Maisey, This has nothing to do with this topic, but I have heard you talk about your Catahoula dog, and had no idea what kind of dog that was. So I looked it up on the net to see what it looks like. What a pretty and rare dog you have. It was driving me crazy not knowing what that was, I've never even heard of it before. I did notice that it talked about two different types, one being a leopard and the other a cur. No idea what that maens, but what do you have? just wondering! Sincerly Susan

The full name is Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Cur, there are not two types...just one long name! There are about a dozen names used for the same dog. There are other types of Cur dogs, Mt. Curs, Blackmouth Curs (like in the movie Old Yeller), Stephens Cur and many more. Catahoulas can come in a leopard pattern or solid colored. Here are some links for you to look at, the first is one of my favorite breeders, they have beautiful, quality bred dogs and they do all the testing for hips eyes and ears. http://members.tripod.com/~EDcatahoulas/

This site has wonderful information and description of the breed. Mr. Abney is a breeder, trainer, retired police officer, and has written a book on the Catahoula. http://www.donabney.com/

This has alot of links to sites about the Catahoula. http://www.canineworld.com/directory/breeds/rare/catahoulaleopard.html#Message%20Boards
