We have two cavalier spaniels, one 8 who wets and a new rescue aged 5. The 8 YO was spayed early and 'pees' over the pee of the rescue in the garden but wets the bed 1/2 times/week. Is it likley to be physical or territorial?

Hi Chris, Spaying a dog early wont be the reason for your dog doing this.. Most dogs pee over other dogs pee when outside this is to wash there scent/mark back in the yard.

Her wetting the bed could be a sign of a health problem a urinary tract problem, She may aslo suffer from incontinece have a vet look her over to make sure there is nothing wrong...

How long have you had the new dog?

Has she only started doing this since you got the new dog?

Does she pee more than usual when out for walks?

Some dogs may also wet the bed if there is a new dog introduced to the family and it is getting more attention

keep us posted

Mike, thanks
Have had new dog (actually both bitches) 18 months. Older dog we think has only been doing this since new dog came but previous bitch got a lot of attention during her dying days and we thought it was her wetting the bed so it may have been an attention thing. Older dog dosnt pee much on walks but can't rule out incontinence which vet suspected but we didn't believe. Half of problem is knowing which dog is peeing as they have 2 beds but swap.

Any ideas (tried asparagus but jury still out!)

Chris
