What is the best way to dry a large, long hair dog (Golden Retriever)?
-lots of towels
-roll on grass (summer)
-winter?
-hair dryer for humans (take too long? 45 minutes?)
-dog hair dryer ( do they save much time? are they too noisy for some dogs?)

Thanks,Howard

I just use my blow drier on my dogs. They seem to like it too, my poodle comes to me before I even call her. Of course I towel dry them first though. blow drying the hair the oposite direct of growth sure does give them a beautiflly fluffy coat. And a poodle needs to be blow dried before clipping.

lets see - let them run back and for thru your legs (you must be wearing jeans) this soaks up the water. Just kidding, But this is how my lab likes to dry himself, we started this as a game when he was a pup well now he is a 100# oaf trying to run thru my legs to dry off. and knocks me off my feet. We got a pool last year which he is in constantly and tried doing this and Im like Nope!
really - big beach towels work great

A word of advice with the drying of dogs fur.. towel dry the fur as much as you can.. then if you want to which may take some getting used to.. normal hair dryer.. DO NOT dry the fur completely because you are damaging the fur by drying it til it is completely dry.. leave it a little damp still.. As you are drying the dog.. you can brush the fur or shake it up with your free hand. I would say though.. between towel drying and dryer, let the dog run around to get that.. GO NUTS!! mode after be bathed.. lol It will make the dogs excitement while drying easier to manage.
