Yes, it is possible to have a pregnancy without a tie.

Jess-- it is very possible.. however, for the safety of the puppies health.. I would not breed a male that age.. It is not a good idea to breed a male after five-six years old.

hi, yes it is likely that she could be pregnant as a tie is not need for the bitch to convicive.
as the male gets older there is the chance he has become infertile but i wouldnt count on it as my german shepherds pups father was 11.
a visit to the vet will determine wether she is in pup or not if she is into her 4week an ultrasound scan will show the developing pups but will not show exactly how many are in there and no method of testing will determine wether she wil carry the pups to term your vet will give you advice about what you should do if she is.

i dont agree in people that have bitches that have let there dogs carry on the pregnancy if it was not planned and thought through carfully as its a huge responsibilty as a german shepherd breeder i have all my dogs checked by a vet before mating after and during tere pregnacies this is more to keep a check on my dogs health more than anything...

keep us posted on her progress and if she is pregnant hope she has a strong healthy litter
