I'm a new member here and am curious if any of you own or have ever been around a Tosa before ? I'm getting a male here in about 3 months or so and have worked a few of them for a couple years now.... as they are slowly becoming more popular outside of Japan. I'm aware of how powerful these dogs are and the damage that they can inflict on other animals. These dogs are a great breed but definitely not for the beginner.. like so many articles state on the internet. I own 2 large Pitbulls both placed on a farm living with my brother. I'll be acquiring the Tosa without any animals in the house to avoid any accidents down the road. Do any of you own Pitbulls or Tosas ?

No, I don't even think I have ever heard of the breed. The name does sound asian.

Here's some pictures of a beautiful working Tosa named Gashira. Most Tosas aren't reluctant enough to be this beautiful even in confirmation rings. I've never seen any with this kind of physique @ 180lbs. Impressive to say the least. This is an extremely rare fighting dog from Japan. Some of these dogs are very "game", like Pitbulls.

This boy could be in a magazine. I've got some more great pics but the maximum # of images allowed per post seems to be 8. Either way this would be a true working Tosa with awesome looks.

Here's another good looking Tosa with a nice physique that I'd be proud to own.... for those of you that haven't seen a Tosa before this is a great example of one too.

Wow, what a gorgous looking breed. Almost a mix of mastiff and yellow lab. Do you know what breeds went into the making of this breed. This is one that I would feel safe walking with even in the the rough parts of L.A. Nope I don't go there now. Beautiful prideful looking dog.

Normally, they're not that good looking. Some of them are even downright ugly. I just posted some pics of ones that looked good, lol. There was a whole lot of breeds that went into this breed..... GreatDane, BullMastiff, English Mastiff, Dogue de Bordeaux, Saint Bernard, German Pointer, fighting Bulldog, Bull Terrier, Shikoko-inu (fox-like creature) and some others. This is an older breed but newer breed. It's only been perfected for about 80yrs. now. Since 1924 when the last addition was made to the breed, the Great Dane. Supposedly DDB was added in the 1930's so it's still around 80yrs. now that this breed has been in it's finished product.
