If anyone owns a poodle then you know how much work it is to keep the eyes clean. I was wondering cause I have noticed Angel gets more goop in her left eye then the right. Is that normal or do I need to get that checked out? Her right eye doesnt really get bad at all. Advice if you have any

it could be just from an eye lash getting into her eye better to take her to the vets just to have it checked to make sure there is no germs in there some long hair dogs have the same problem with eyelashes hope its nothing to serious keep us posted

My poos eyes get goopy too, It is usually more so after a night of sleep. It bugs the you know what out of me if she has any hair in her face. I am constantly moving her ear hair away from her face. When I clip her face I even trim down her eyelashes. If I did not they would be very long. I try to keep them clear. But after breakfast I usually give her eyes a cleaning. Usually just a once a day thing. I don't really notice if one is more so than the other. They seem about even maybe one day more on one side then the other the next. Is it happening thru out the day? If it is not clear then there could be an infection. If it is yellowish or greenish take her to see the vet for some drops or ointment.

My Toy Poodle has more staining out of one eye than the other too. Is the stain red or is there a discharge like puttin asked? If it's green or yellow than it is most likely an infection and should get on antibiotic eye ointment. If it is red then this is something you will battle for the rest of her life. Some vets will try and open the tear ducts more to prevent this and others recommend a small amount of tetracycline daily. I opted just to clean them off well and keep her face shaved down. My Vet says most things they try don't really work and just to do what I am doing. Good luck!!

It is not discolored, so I'm not worried about infections. When I went home last night I noticed that the fur on her face is getting long so that is probably the problem. After we go to the dog park tonight, when she is good and tired I'm going to bathe her and clip her face. If it keeps up then I will go see my vet.

It is much easier to wipe clean when the hair is very short of the face. I usually try to wipe it first thing in the morning before it dries so easier cleaning.
