My lab all of the sudden has bad breath - I chekd his teeth and gums and they look fun - does anyone know what could be causin this. My other dog Wylie has all of the sudden become a pig. for over 4 years we tried various foods, with little luck getting her to eat. we would have to stand and watch her and be still, any distraction and forget it, I would have to throw her food out (mylab would get it if I didnt. Well I swithced her to Purina pro plan about 6 months ago and she is enjoying eating. (I Know it is not quality, I switched my lab to Innova about 4 months ago with great success. The problem now Wylie is in the last month or so it is like she cant get enough food. and act like she is starving. Could anything be wrong Thanks IP: Logged |

With the bad breath...it could be an infection, or the food you are feeding, maybe he is having some dental problems that aren't very visible, beyond that I am not sure. I would probably talk to my vet about your other dog and sudden eating changes, maybe have a physical for her. Check for worms, thyroid....??? IP: Logged |

The dog that is eating a lot could have tapeworms. I would check to see if you can see any in his poop. IP: Logged |

Hi... Not to sure about either but with the bad breath, it could be something w/ his gums. Perhaps a little bleeding going unnoticed. W/ the over eating, first off, i got to LOL. Just the thought of a dog loving his meals like a pig is downright funny/cute. Not when it starts to cause problems though. No-offense. Hmm, maybe she was missing a certain ingredient that she really likes. Switching a dogs food is something new for them, & very yummy at that. After a couple months if it starts to be as it used to, where she hardly eats, it could be just that. That she was given something new to eat. At least she's eating a lot better now. Hopfully not though, she might have intestinal worms. Check your dogs stools/doo-doo/dung/dump/waste/ca-kah/shhht, for any signs of worms, blood, diarrhea or anything out of the ordinary ------------------ IP: Logged |

Hello  Bad breath is usually associated with a bad tooth or a gum problem. Some endocrine problems can cause bad breath. Not being able to get enough to eat is usually associated with a Thyroid or Kidney problem. In rare cases, not being able to get enough to eat is associated with Diabetics. I know shortly before my beloved cat went to Rainbow Birdge, he was diagnosed with a Thyroid problem. The Thyroid problem was a result of his Diabetics. I would feed him in the morning, he'd want food again shortly after that. I'd feed him at night, he'd want food shortly after that. When my dog started having a period of not so nice smelling breath, the Vet said she had a slight amount of plaque build up on her very back teeth, that can be difficult to keep clean. IP: Logged |

1dog3cats, I checked on the thyroid problem and hypo - they they become lethargic and dont want to eat, this is just the opposite - and hyper seems only to be in cats what I gather. I will have to look into the diabetic situation. As for bad breath, it could be there is something I dont see in his mouth and maybe a check up is in order thanks honeybear IP: Logged |

. Maybe her body finally overcame an internal battle, and she's just trying to replenish her body. Maybe that's why it's all of a sudden. Overall, ask your veterinarian. Good Luck!
