I had my poodle on a diet and she is now 11 lbs.possibly a tad under (without collarand breakfast). Question is advatage is for 10 lbs and under and the 11lbs to 20 I think it was. Which one should i put her one. I don't want to give her one thats too strong, should I give her the lower dosage. Anyone dealt with this problem. IP: Logged |

We use the Frontline Plus, we have three dogs Dooley weighs 45.5 lbs, Darby(our Poodle) weighs 9 lbs and Witt weighs 61 pounds. We buy the 45-88 lb package and put one full dose on Witt and then split another between Dooley and Darby. 2/3 goes on Dooley and the remaining 1/3 goes on Darby. Dooley is at the bottom of that weight scale so we thought it would be fine. We talked to our vet and he said, if it is providing coverage for both then great. We had a very mild winter and the fleas are terrible, we have been putting it on the boys once a month, we used to be able to do it every other month. PS I would go with the lower dosage if it will provide adequate protection. If you notice it is not bump up to the next dosage level. Maybe call your vet for a quick bit of advice. Have you ever tried program. They have one for 5 to 15 pounds. Where I get there stuff it has killer prices on the four top flea brands. My neighbor does something similar with her cats. Have you ever used the frontline sprays? IP: Logged |

I would go with Frontline, and use the lower dosage. I live in Alabama and fleas are ALWAYS a problem here. I have all of my six babies on Frontline, and I held my Big boy Cody on the 45-88 lbs even until he was about 95 lbs. He never ever got any fleas!! Of course, when he got over 100 lbs, we switched him. The reason I would go with Frontline is because it covers ticks as well. The only one I can think of being better than Frontline is only K-9 Advantix (they cover mosquitoes too), but that is really-really expensive (I can't figure out why??!!) So all I can tell you is that I'm having all of my babies on Frontline, never had a problem with fleas or ticks, so why switch? IP: Logged |

My sisters dog has not had good luck with advantage and frontline plus. mine have always been on advantage. I think I may give the frontline a try. It still bugs me though that it is for up to 22 lbs Oh I don't know. I want to hear from more people. Program has a 5-15, but does it kill fleas that hop on or just the eggs? It would seem you may need two inds for that. we are in calif. Very often warmer than cold. Not alot of fleas get on my dogs just one or two then I reaply. I don't have any infestation indoors or outside, even though we have some cats that roam around. [This message has been edited by puttin510 (edited 08-21-2003).] IP: Logged |
