I'm just curious what kind of toy to get my pup. She has alot of stuffed animals, but she is getting bored with them. She loves to chew on her bones, but I want to get her something fun to play with. I have thought about getting her a kong, but I dont want anything messy. I want something she can play with while I'm at work. I come home and she hasnt even taken her toys out of her box. I dont want her to be bored while I'm at work. What should I get?

I've used Kongs (stuffed with frozen peanut butter and treats)on mine while I was at work and did'nt find them to be messy.
I've also seen these ball type toys that drop out dry treats when the dog rolls them around...maybe that is something you could try?

I also use Kongs and don't find them to be messy at all. I even sometimes stuff them with dry dog food. My pup loves his rope toy. He also really loves a empty soda bottle but it probably isn't something you would want to leave with your dog unsupervised. In fact the soda bottle is his favorite toy by far. I just did a search on Petsmart.com and it came up with a bunch of ball type toys that Nern referred to. They are supposed to be very interactive for dogs. I might even try those! Let us know what you find to be successful.

My terrier only grabs his toys to bring it to us when we arrive home. They stay put other than that.

Hello :')

My dog loves (2) kinds of toys. Squeeky and Canvas!!

She has several squeeky toys that have a fleece cover, cordory, or denim cover on them. She has several squueky toys shaped like an animal that talks. She has several canvas retriever rolls and a canvas retriever dog that squeeks.

There are numerous online stores, that carry over 15 types of toys!!

There is a Kong Toy website, that lists several recipes for the Kong toy.

I am sorry but I cant answer since I am my dogs play toy - they wouldnt know how to play by themselves if their life depended on it. My lab loves plastic water bottles, unfortunately this is not a good thing since he will grab full water bottles off a table thinking they belong to him.

Our dogs have never been really excited about kong toys, no matter what they were stuffed with. Some dogs love them, some dogs like them, some dogs don't. If your dog is a food hound, chances are that a stuffed kong will keep them busy for a while.

We have several of those treat dispensing balls, the dogs like them and seem to figure them out quickly (though Goo figured out how to cheat by just bashing the ball against the wall repeatedly to knock treats out rather than rolling it around )

Goo also likes this ball:

It's made of hard plastic (the orange part), has a marble inside that rattles around, and has big rubber band-type encasing (the blue part) around it that keeps it from breaking when she crashes it around the house.

Then there's also the ever popular cheap-o soda bottles:

That's NOT something I'd let her have if I wasn't right there, though.

And if you decide you want to leave him with a chewy to gnaw on while you're gone, you might consider giving him bully sticks instead of rawhide chews... they're supposed to be more easily digestible and less likely to cause blockages, etc. They're really disgusting, and smell, but the dogs love them, and they don't pull of big chunks like they do with rawhide chews. Here's more info on them and some (this is also a retailer, but I've never bought from them): http://www.bullysticks.com/

Thanks for all your responses. Goob I love the pics!

Honeybear I know just how you feel. I will leave and I dont think Angel even touches her toys. The second I walk in she grabs something and sits on my lap. I got her a ball that is kinda like a kong. She seems to like it.

Nessa,

Every dog is different and what one would love, the other may find absolutely BORING!
Try several of them, until you find the ONE!

Check this website also: www.dogtoys.com

Good luck!
