Hi there, I have a two year old black lab who is a week into recovery from an ACL surgery and also had a bone chip removed from her stifle joint. We are a military family stationed overseas with a wonderful military vet and facility, we are getting to know them quite well. My problem is that we can't seem to keep the bandage on her leg (it is a Robert Jones type) even though she spends most of her time in a small bathroom behind a baby gate. She was scared and it became too much of a struggle to get her into her crate with the E-collar on so I had to stop that last week. She was supposed to have the first bandage change at the same time that the sutures came out about 10 days after the surgery, but it is now day 7 and we are on bandage number three. Thankfully the dog loves the vet and is becoming good friends with the staff, but I would really like to stop making the trip every other day. Do any of you have similar experiences or any suggestions?

Try using a cervicle collar for people, I'm not sure if this will keep her from reaching it completely, but it may help. We did this with our GS when he had shoulder surgery, it worked very well, and was less frightening.
