I would take the puppy to a vet immediately, it's not normal for a 7 week old puppy to be "skin and bones", the reason needs to be found and then addressed, your vet is the best person to do this. Why wasn't the puppy left with mom and littermates until it was 8 weeks old? IP: Logged |

I agree with taking the puppy to a vet. A puppy that is skin and bones just does not sound healthy to me. It could possibly have worms or some other type of parasite that may be easily treated by a vet. Good luck. IP: Logged |

I agree with the rest. Take her to the vet. Is she vomiting at all. There is a condition where the pups intestines are blocked and the pup may eat but then vomit everything and gain nearly nothing. Take her to the vet. IP: Logged |

thank you she was the runt of the litter and the mother quit taking care of her she was given to us. i think she had been malnutritioned all along i just could not turn her away she is so sweet. The lady that gave her to us is a breeder and she could not sell her so she decided she did not have time to mess with her so i took her i love her very much so do my children my mother in law works for a vet so she took her in today. and i hope they can find the problem i have been hand feeding her for the past 2 days and giving her water from a syringe. i will do what it takes to help her make it. she is so dehydrated that she has no interest in eating on her own. and to tell you the truth if we had not rescued her she would have been put down and how awful that sounds. i could not live with that because i believe with the right nourishment and treatment she will be fine. she has beautiful markings she is fawn and white and she has one black eye kind of like the little rascals dog.thanks alot everyone for your advice i will keep you updated. I would fist get her checked out for worms. If that was clear then thats one possibility out. Is she eating solid food yet. If not you can get dog formula at pet stores. If she is eating dry you can also give her ensure for people. This has a lot of vitamins and nutrients in it that will fatten her up. IP: Logged |

I'm glad you took her in and it sounds like things will be fine now. In the horse world, using the word "strangles" will start a panic because it is so contagious, I am wondering what the difference is now. I'll have to do some reading. She is having a rough start to her life, but lucky enough she has you now! IP: Logged |
